Prakash - Music for Underprivleged Students

The Academy has a long-term vision of reaching out to underprivileged members of society, introducing them to the beauty of Indian classical music. To fulfill this purpose, they have launched “Project Prakash” with underprivileged students from several schools over the past few years. The Academy’s goal is not only to make music more accessible to them but also to nurture their musical potential, allowing them to pursue music for both enjoyment and professional success.

Currently, Dhwani Academy is actively involved in musical activities at Disha Foundation, South Kolkata. The Academy has previously provided music lessons to students from the following schools:

– Rebecca School, Howrah
– Kamakhya Balak Ashram, Madhyamgram
– Hamari Muskan, North Kolkata
– Help Us Help Them, Central Kolkata

In addition to underprivileged children, the Academy also extends its project to children from regular schools who may not yet have a deep appreciation for Indian classical music. They have included Orient Day School in their music awareness program, offering scheduled music classes for students from class 1 to class 9. The school authorities have incorporated music into their regular curriculum. Furthermore, the Academy conducts regular classes at its own premises and is in discussions with other similar schools for potential inclusion in the program.
